canoe at Ledskar

I scale a handy navigation mark to photograph ships passing Ledskär Day Beacon off the tip of Lemland, Åland. It was the first -and last time- I used my 22 kg canoe to photograph in the open seas of the Baltic. After being caught unawares and suddenly surfing in the rip tides of a passing ship, I was lucky to make it back to shore intact and with dry equipment! From that point on, in 2002, I made the decision to buy a motorized boat.
